Dismissals in the Presidential Office and an explosion in Bila Tserkva: highlights for March 30

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired his first aide Serhii Shefir and advisor Alona Verbytska, and dismissed four others. An unidentified object explodes in a residential building in Bila Tserkva, causing deaths. About 80% of DTEK's installed capacity was damaged in the March attacks on its facilities. Personnel changes in the government

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the continuation of the “reboot of state institutions” and announced new personnel changes.

Today, he fired his first aide, Serhii Shefir, and one advisor, Alona Verbytska, and dismissed (suspended with pay) four other advisors. Meanwhile, Shefir said that despite his dismissal, he remained in the president's team.

Explosion in Bila Tserkva

An explosion occurred in a residential building in Bila Tserkva, the Kyiv region, the cause of which is still unknown. The explosion caused a fire and destroyed the slabs between the floors. Two people have been reported dead.

Rescuers extinguished the fire and rescued four people, including an 8-year-old child who was hospitalized. In addition, the body of a deceased person was recovered from the rubble of the collapsed ceiling.

Damage to DTEK

In March, Russian troops fired at least 10 times at DTEK's generation and distribution facilities. The occupiers damaged or destroyed about 80% of the energy company's installed capacity.

In particular, the company says that 5 out of 6 DTEK thermal power plants are currently damaged “very badly” — some units are almost destroyed, and some are partially destroyed.

Declarations of officials

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal released his annual income declaration. According to it, the head of the government earned UAH 974,845 during the year. In particular, together with his wife, Shmyhal owns a residential building in Lviv with an area of more than 215 sq. m.

Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko indicated UAH 1 million in salary in his electronic declaration of property and income for 2023. He also owns a 785 sq. m house and a 250 sq. m apartment.

Russia is strengthening its borders in regions near Ukraine

Russia is reinforcing border areas in the Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk regions. In particular, training is underway for personnel stationed in these regions. Russia plans to relocate other units stationed in the occupied Ukrainian territories.

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine says that the reinforcements were stepped up after raids by Russian volunteers.
