Donetsk National University: Exams In Exile

At the end of September Donetsk National University (DonNU), together with thousands of others, was forced to leave war—torn Donbas. Since then it has been based in a building previously owned by a jewelry factory in Vinnytsia, a city located in central Ukraine.
Around 70% of DonNU's students and lecturers decided to move to Vinnytsia after the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic replaced the university's rector and dictated that the institution assume an openly pro-Russia stance. More than 35 students were held in captivity by the pro-Russian separatists in the Donetsk region. There are close to one thousand students now studying in Vinnytsia. Many more want to join them, but the university still doesn’t have its own dormitory. Hromadske went to Vinnytsia to see how the students and lecturers are settling into their new environment.
