The Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Tu—22M3 long—range strategic bomber for the first time. Russia launched a missile strike on Dnipro, killing seven people, including two children. Ukrainian military shoots down a Tu-22M3 over Russia
For the first time, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force, in cooperation with the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, destroyed a Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bomber. This aircraft is a carrier of X-22 cruise missiles.
Russia attacked Dnipro city
In the morning of April 19, Russian troops opened fire on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Some of the enemy targets were shot down by air defense forces, but there were also hits. Damage was reported in Dnipro, Synelnykove, Pavlohrad, Kryvyi Rih, and other cities.
Seven people were killed and 35 others were injured in the attack in the region. Two children were among the dead: A 14-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting in Dnipro after the Russian attack.
Aid to Ukraine passes procedural vote
The U.S. House of Representatives has supported the introduction of a bill to aid Ukraine. The bills on aid to Israel and Taiwan also passed the procedural vote.
This vote is not final, it only allows the bills to be submitted to the House of Representatives.
Tanks with grain for Asia and Africa destroyed in Odesa
As a result of a Russian missile attack on the port infrastructure in Odesa, containers with agricultural products that were to be exported to Asia and Africa were destroyed.
The attack targeted two terminals of the Pivdennyi port, through which agricultural products are exported. One of the terminals is owned by a Singaporean company.
NATO promises to provide Ukraine with more air defense systems
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO countries have committed to providing Ukraine with more air defense systems.
Thus, the Netherlands will allocate more than 200 million euros for initiatives to quickly supply Ukraine with additional air defense equipment and artillery shells.
Pavlo Petrychenko was buried in Kyiv
A well-known activist and junior sergeant of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, Pavlo Petrychenko, who died defending Ukraine, was laid to rest at St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv.
A lot of people came to say goodbye to Pavlo Petrychenko – more people than could enter the filled St. Michael's Cathedral.
Humeniuk fired after journalists complained
The head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, Natalia Humeniuk, has been dismissed. The day before, a number of Ukrainian media outlets had appealed to the military leadership to dismiss her.
The journalists said that Humeniuk was obstructing the coverage of Russian crimes and preventing journalists from showing the heroic deeds of Kherson Oblast's defenders.
