Explosions at Zaporizhzhya NPP, fire in Moscow: highlights of the day

More than 10 explosions occurred at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, and a warehouse burned in the center of Moscow. We have collected the main news from today.

Explosions at Zaporizhzhya NPP

Explosions occurred on the territory of the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP and near it in the evening of November 19 and in the morning of November 20. More than ten explosions were recorded, while the state NPP operator Energoatom reports at least 12 hits at the plant site. NPP infrastructure equipment was damaged.

Fire in Moscow

A fire broke out in Moscow near three railway stations, in a two-story brick warehouse building near Komsomolskaya Square. A furniture and lamps store and a flower shop are located there. The fire area grew to 2,500 square meters. In total, seven people were evacuated from the building, two more are blocked.

Anti-aircraft systems from France

France recently handed over to Ukraine two units of the French Crotale short-range anti-aircraft missile system and two multiple launch rocket systems. Crotale can be used both for air defense of strategically important strongholds, command and control centers, missile launch positions, and for direct cover of troops' combat formations.

More Russian shelling

At night, Russian occupation forces attacked residential areas of Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. They fired at least 40 shells. A local resident was injured, 20 multi-storey and private buildings were damaged.

Also Russian troops once again opened fire in Donetsk Oblast: they struck 10 settlements with S-300, artillery and mortars. The attacks resulted in two victims, including a 15-year-old child.

Investigation of the missile fall in Poland

In the Polish village of Przewodów, the examination of the site of a missile explosion that killed two people has been completed. As of the morning of November 20, police no longer guard the site of the explosion. Also, there are no investigators or experts in the village.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the investigators of the explosion have recordings from the video cameras of the Border Guard Service, but they do not show with 100% certainty where the missile was fired from.

Situation at the front line

Russian occupation troops continue to suffer losses. To the city hospital of Skadovsk, Kherson Oblast, alone about 100 wounded Russian soldiers were brought, and more than 100 occupiers were wounded on November 19 in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

The General Staff also reported that aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces of the Armed Forces of Russia fly in the airspace of Belarus almost every day. Among them is a carrier of Kinzhal missiles, which are capable of striking targets throughout Ukraine.

At the same time, the Air Force says that it is too early to talk about a broad Russian offensive — despite massive missile attacks and heavy fighting in Donbas. As previously reported, the occupiers are transferring to the eastern axis those units that were driven out from the south.

Other news:

  • Russia has already used more than 4,700 missiles against Ukraine in almost 270 days of full-scale war, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
  • For the first time in history, New Zealand Defense Minister Peeni Henare arrived in Ukraine and met with his Ukrainian counterpart Oleksii Reznikov. They discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in defense.
  • Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that the occupiers could have resorted to perfidy — staged a surrender and then opened fire on the Ukrainian military. Now Russia is trying to use this incident to accuse Ukraine of shooting the prisoners.
