Explosions near Antonivka bridge, success of the Armed Forces on the southern front: the last night's highlights
Explosions were heard near Antonivka Bridge: the occupiers claim three hits; the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted 10 airstrikes on the occupiers in the south; The New York Times writes that Ukraine has gained an advantage in artillery over the Russians on the southern front. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.
Explosions in the area of Antonivka Bridge
On the evening of October 29, explosions were heard in the area of Antonivka Bridge in temporarily occupied Kherson. Russians claimed that Ukrainian troops allegedly struck it using HIMARS systems.
Russian propagandists say that out of 12 missiles launched, the occupiers shot down nine, and three “fell near the bridge”.
Successes of the Armed Forces in the south
The Ukrainian Armed Forces killed 57 Russians on the southern front on October 29. Ukrainian aviation carried out ten airstrikes on the concentrations of manpower and military hardware of the occupiers, the Operational Command “South” reported. It added that Russian troops in southern Ukraine suffered losses:
- Nona self-propelled air-droppable mortar;
- Akatsiya and Msta-S self-propelled howitzers;
- D-20 and Msta-B howitzers;
- Tunguska and Pantsir-S1 self-propelled anti-aircraft weapons;
- a tank;
- 7 armored vehicles.
Advantage of Ukraine
In recent months, the situation on the front line in southern Ukraine has changed. With powerful Western weapons and its own UAVs, the country has gained an advantage in artillery over the occupiers in this region, writes The New York Times.
“Ukraine now has an advantage in both range and precision missiles and artillery shells, a class of weapons that is largely lacking in the Russian arsenal,” the article says.
Appeal of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has called for a military escort to be provided to ships carrying Ukrainian grain after Russia announced the suspension of its participation in the “grain deal”.
“Negotiating with Russia doesn’t work. Putin breaks agreements and blackmails all of us. If he continues to jeopardize Ukraine's grain exports, the free world must unite to safeguard shipping with military escorts. Let’s bypass the blackmail," he said in his message.
Electricity supply in Kyiv Oblast
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on October 29, there were significantly fewer power outages in Ukraine, but there is still a need for it. According to him, the situation in Kyiv Oblast was critical, but electricians are already working on it.
“Today, there are significantly fewer, much less stabilization and emergency outages. But there is still such a need, and in some cities and districts, restrictions are still possible. In particular, it is Kirovohrad Oblast, some other regions,” he noted.
