Germany announces a new defense package for Ukraine. In particular, it includes ammunition and drones
On March 28, Germany announced new military aid to Ukraine. The package included artillery shells, drones, and armored fighting vehicles.
This is confirmed by the German government's website.
Thus, the Ukrainian army received:
- ammunition for Leopard 2A6 tanks;
- 18 thousand rounds 155mm ammunition;
- 14 Vector drones with spare parts;
- 30 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones;
- 5 anti-drone sensors;
- 180 RF 360 field kits - drone detection systems;
- 5 All Terrain Tracked Carrier Warthog (repair and recovery vehicle);
- 9 All Terrain Tracked Carrier Warthog (command vehicle);
- 6 mine clearing tanks WISENT 1 with spare parts;
- 2 bridge-laying tanks BEAVER with spare parts;
- one armoured recovery vehicle Bergepanzer 2 with spare parts;
- one armoured engineer vehicle DACHS;
- 9 mine ploughs;
- Satcom surveillance system;
- 330 infrared cameras;
- 3 border protection vehicles;
- 6 tankers Zetros;
- 2056 man-portable anti-tank weapons RGW 90 Matador;
- 70 grenade launchers GMG;
- 24 rounds ammunition 40mm.
Germany also provided Ukraine with camouflage nets, camouflage ponchos and two emergency power generators.
Assistance from Germany
In 2022, Ukraine received €2 billion in military aid from Germany. And in 2023, the funding for the security capacity building initiative will amount to €5.4 billion.
The German government notes that additional authorizations for commitments in the following years amount to €10.5 billion. These funds should be used primarily for military assistance to Ukraine. They will also be used to replenish the stocks of the German armed forces and Berlin's contributions to the European Peace Fund (EPF).
In addition, more than 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have undergone military training in Germany.
