Germany increased imports from Russia by 60% between January and April 2022, transferring a total of approx. €6 billion to the RF, says Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk.

Exports to Russia fell by more than 26%, but overall trade between the countries grew by more than 20%. At the same time, trade with Ukraine in the first four months of the year decreased by 11% (in particular, imports decreased by 5.4% and exports — by 15.7%).

Germany is accused not only of economic ties with Russia but also of delaying the supply of weapons to Ukraine. For example, Welt claimed German Chancellor Olaf Scholz refused to supply heavy weapons such as tanks and armored personnel carriers for Ukraine, citing agreements with NATO allies. At the same time, the country has barely supplied light weaponry to Ukraine since the end of March.

Later, the country's government promised Ukraine anti-aircraft systems, self-propelled howitzers, and multiple rocket launchers, but Germany did not specify when the weaponry could be delivered.
