Hepatitis A outbreak in Vinnytsia region, attack on thermal power plant and Ukrainian child killed in Gaza: highlights
The outbreak of hepatitis A in the Vinnytsia region was recognized as an emergency at the regional level. The number of dead Ukrainians in the Gaza Strip has risen to four. Russian troops attacked a thermal power plant in the frontline region. We collected the key news for October 31.
Hepatitis A outbreak in Vinnytsia region
In the Vinnytsia region, mobile teams began emergency vaccination for those in contact with patients with hepatitis A. The hepatitis outbreak was defined as an emergency at the regional level. Because of this, anti-epidemic measures have been strengthened in the Vinnytsia region.
As of the morning of October 31, there were 144 patients with hepatitis A in hospitals in the region. Epidemiological statistics show that the source of infection still exists. The outbreak may be caused by food or drinking water.
A new standard of secondary specialized education
The Ministry of Education and Science has developed a draft standard for specialized secondary education for grades 10-12 and vocational and professional pre-higher education institutions.
The new standard continues the reform of the New Ukrainian School, which started with the first grade in 2018. It is expected that these students will study according to it from 2027. As explained by the Ministry of Education and Science, students will be able to form their own “educational trajectory”: choose a profile and partially choose subjects to study.
Russians attacked a thermal power plant
Yesterday, October 30, Russian occupation forces attacked one of DTEK’s thermal power plants in the front-line region.
As a result of the shelling, the equipment was seriously damaged, which left residents of one of the settlements near the station without electricity and water. There were no casualties.
Shelling of Kherson
At about 10 a.m., the Russian army shelled the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. There, the invaders hit a civilian car, and it caught fire due to a shell hit. The owner of the car died.
After 11 a.m., Russian occupation forces also shelled the central region of Kherson. As a result of the shelling, warehouses were destroyed and approximately 10 cars were damaged. Two local car depot workers are known to be injured.
Another Ukrainian child died in the Gaza Strip
The number of dead Ukrainians in the Gaza Strip has risen to four. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, among the four Ukrainians killed in the Gaza Strip, three were children. It is also known about six wounded Ukrainian citizens in Palestinian territory.
In addition, the ministry confirms the death of 21 Ukrainians in Israel. Another person is considered missing.
