Inclemencies across Ukraine, drone attacks against military facilities in Russia: highlights for November 26

Bad weather in Ukraine

Today, the southern regions were particularly affected by adverse weather conditions. Due to the inclemencies in Odesa Oblast, traffic restrictions were imposed on some highways.

The head of the regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, says that traffic for heavy vehicles has been blocked on the M-28 Odesa-Yuzhne highway since 8:30 a.m. on November 26 for about 12 hours. It is assumed that another highway, M-15 Odesa-Reni, will be closed for the same period.

Police say they are ensuring traffic safety and helping people caught in snowdrifts and accidents in the region. So far, several accidents have occurred that have hampered traffic, and two people have been reported injured.

Later, traffic on another highway, the M-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway, was closed in Odesa Oblast.

The State Border Guard Service said that the border crossing points of the region "Mayaky-Palanca-Udobne" and "Starokozache-Tudora" stopped letting traffic through due to inclemency. The Moldovan border guards made this decision against the backdrop of congestion on the highway in the town of Căușeni.

In addition, according to Ukrenergo, one of the metal supports of power lines in Odesa Oblast broke as a result of the weather. Distribution networks were damaged.

In total, almost 400 settlements in Ukraine are without power due to the adverse weather, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address. According to him, people in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, and Kyiv oblasts are temporarily without electricity. Operational headquarters have already been deployed there to overcome the consequences of the weather.

On the afternoon of November 26 and at night of November 27, severe weather conditions of the second (orange) hazard level are expected in a number of regions, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warned. In addition, the first level (yellow) of danger is predicted in some regions.

Drone attack in Russia

The Russian Defense Ministry has announced an overnight attempt to attack targets on the territory of the Russian Federation with aircraft-type drones. The ministry says that air defense systems allegedly destroyed 11 drones over Moscow, Tula, Kaluga, and Bryansk oblasts. Russian authorities accused Ukraine of these attacks.

A source in the Main Intelligence Directorate told hromadske that the attack was a special operation by the Defense Intelligence. At the same time, they neither confirmed nor denied this information officially.

Continuation of the strike on the border with Poland

Strikers on the Polish-Ukrainian border will begin a round-the-clock blockade of the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint on November 27. Until November 26, the strikes at this checkpoint lasted from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. CET.

As of the morning of November 26, about 3,500 trucks were queuing in four directions (Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Krakivets-Korczowa, Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne, Medyka-Shehyni) in the direction of Ukraine, most of them in front of the Shehyni and Rava-Ruska checkpoints.

Fire at a tractor plant in Chelyabinsk

A large fire broke out at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant in Russia. Before the fire, an explosion was heard there. Russian emergency workers said a transformer had caught fire.

Later, they said they had extinguished an open fire over an area of 40 square meters. Local Telegram channels reported that the power went out in the city's buildings.

According to Militarnyi news channel, ChTZ-Uraltrak specializes in the production of diesel engines for tanks and other tracked military equipment.
