The Ukrainian military liberated Kupiansk—Vuzlovyi in Kharkiv Oblast; measuring stations in Sweden and Denmark registered strong underwater explosions in the area of the gas leak from the Nord Stream gas pipelines; the Federal Security Service of Russia accused Motoki Tatsunori, consul of the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok, of espionage. We collected the key news for today.

Liberation of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi

The head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov confirmed on the telethon air that the Ukrainian military liberated Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, where a large railway junction is located.

Siniehubov explained that there were several fundamental and important directions for the Russians in Kharkiv Oblast, through which they directed their hardware to the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. It was Izium and the so-called Izium hill, as well as Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, one of the largest logistical and railway junctions in Kharkiv Oblast.

From the first hours of the full-scale war, it was occupied, and the enemy defended and held it quite strongly. Thanks to a successful military operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces recaptured this settlement and are in fact in full control of it,” Siniehubov reported.

Measuring stations in Sweden and Denmark registered strong underwater explosions in the same area where the gas leak from the Nord Stream gas pipelines occurred. This is reported by SVT.

Germany, in particular, is currently investigating gas pipeline leaks. According to Bloomberg, a representative of the German security service told reporters that the evidence points to a violent act, not a technical problem with the gas pipelines.

Björn Lund, a lecturer in seismology at the Swedish National Seismic Network, told reporters that the organization had detected two “apparent explosions” in the area of the gas leaks. One of them had a magnitude of 2.3 and was registered at 30 measuring stations in southern Sweden.

Russia accused the Japanese consul of espionage

The Federal Security Service of Russia accused Motoki Tatsunori, consul of the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok, of espionage. This is reported by Kyodo News.

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation stated that the Japanese consul allegedly received restricted access information for money about current aspects of Russia's cooperation with one of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the impact of the Western sanctions policy on the economic situation in the Primorsky Krai.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan stated that Russia's actions were completely unacceptable, since the consul did not commit illegal acts, and during the detention, Russian security forces used “coercion”, including blindfolding the diplomat and physical restraint. Japan demands an official apology from Moscow and assurances that such an incident will not happen again.
