The spin doctor, who is linked to the People's Deputy of Ukraine from the banned pro-Russian "Opposition Platform — For Life" Viktor Medvedchuk, has been declared a suspect in treason, reports the Security Service of Ukraine. Law enforcers have not disclosed the suspect's name yet, but Kyiv Prosecutor's Office hinted that the suspect is Mykhailo Pohrebynskyi.

According to law enforcers, Medvedchuk's campaign manager had close ties with Russian special services, which operated in Ukraine under the guise of diplomatic posts.
He was a frequent guest on Russian propagandist TV shows and headed a group of campaign managers and political experts who systematically prepared analytical notes on the socio-political situation in Ukraine and provided proposals for strengthening Russian influence in Ukrainian society.

Mykhailo Pohrebynskyi headed the Kyiv Center of Political Studies and Conflictology since 1993, worked as an adviser to Viktor Medvedchuk when the latter was head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine (2002-2005) and was an adviser to Viktor Yanukovych's election headquarters.

A сomprehensive forensic psychological and linguistic examination indicated that the statements and activities of Pohrebynskyi were aimed at harming the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. During the searches, SІU officers also seized items and documents confirming Pohrebynskyi's ties to Russia, in particular, analytical materials on the "denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine."

Now, law enforcement officers are working to confirm the possible use of these and other materials while planning a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The campaign manager was declared in absentia on suspicion of treason which provides for up to 15 years in prison with or without confiscation of property.
