MH-17 Suspects To Be Persecuted in Dutch Court

The Foreign Ministry of Netherlands has announced that the suspects in the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 are to be prosecuted in a Dutch court, reports Euronews.

The countries investigating the MH17 case – Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, Malaysia, and Ukraine came to this decision. However, they haven't set up a start date for the trial or released the names the suspects.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crashed in Eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. It was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board. The victims came from 17 countries, 196 were Dutch nationals. The JIT brought together investigators from the Netherlands, Austrialia, Belgium, Malaysia, and Ukraine to identify those responsible for the crash and collect evidence to be used in court.

In October 2015, the Dutch Safety Board concluded that the plane was downed by a Russian-made rocket. Investigators said the rocket was fired from territory held by pro-Russian separatists.
