More Ukrainian successes in the south, another shelling of Mykolayiv Oblast: last night's highlights

The Ukrainian military is carrying out a counterattack in the south of Ukraine, and the occupiers once again fired at a city in the Mykolayiv Oblast. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Successes of the Armed Forces in the south

Operational Command "South" reported that units of the Armed Forces in the south continue the offensive and try to restrain the occupiers and prevent the redeployment of their reserves. On May 29, the Ukrainian military eliminated 67 occupiers, their equipment, an unmanned reconnaissance command post, as well as a command post of one of the units.

The American Institute for the Study of War claims that a successful counterattack by the Ukrainian army in the Kherson Oblast could disrupt the Russians' plans, making them draw additional forces from other areas. Shelling in Mykolayiv Oblast

Rally in Warsaw

Lavrov comments on Putin's illness

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has denied reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has serious health problems. The Russian foreign minister said that Putin appears in public every day, so everyone can see what he looks like.

Ukraine has already concluded almost all arms supply agreements, but their implementation will take some time, said Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Malyar. She stressed that the process of arms supply is long, and the transit of weapons through the territory of other countries usually requires a permit at the highest level.

Fighting in the Donbas

The Joint Forces reported that during the week, they repulsed 76 enemy attacks and destroyed dozens of occupiers' equipment in the Donbas. Ukrainian fighters destroyed 22 tanks, 17 artillery systems and 67 units of armored combat vehicles.

EU and anti-Russian sanctions

The European Union was unable to agree on an embargo on Russian oil on May 29, a day before the planned EU summit to discuss the war in Ukraine, energy and food security, according to Reuters. European diplomats will try to make progress in supplying oil products through pipelines to Central Europe ahead of the summit on May 30-31.

However, a senior EU diplomat told the agency that there were "still too much detail to sort out" to hope for an agreement before the Brussels meeting.
