Murder of Ukrainian teenager in Germany, ex-MP Pashynskyi charged: highlights for February 12

Murder of Ukrainian teenager in Germany
On the evening of February 11, the Kyiv Basketball Federation reported that 17-year-old Volodymyr Yermakov was killed in Germany. The Ukrainian athletes were attacked "simply because they are Ukrainians."
In the morning, German police said that the perpetrators had been detained. According to the police, a quarrel arose between two groups of young people at a bus stop in the city of Oberhausen, which later escalated into a fight.
The police note that at first the suspected attackers fled the scene unnoticed. But eventually, they were found. They are a 15-year-old Turkish German from Gelsenkirchen and a 14-year-old Greek German from Herne. Both have already been involved in serious criminal cases.
The Consulate General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf has already held talks with the head of the Essen police. The consuls stressed that it is necessary to conduct an investigation as soon as possible and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Searches at ex-MP Pashynskyi's place
This morning, on February 12, law enforcement officers came to the house of former MP Serhiy Pashynskyi with searches.

Law enforcement officers pressed charges against him, his business partner and four of their accomplices for misappropriation and sale of 97,000 tons of state-confiscated oil products that were supposed to be used for the needs of the army.
The case was classified under Part 1 of Art. 255, Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison.
Seizure of businessman Hrynkevych's family property
The court seized the real estate and cars of Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynkevych, his family members - his wife, son, and mother-in-law - and two of his accomplices.
The State Bureau of Investigation also said that it had initiated the seizure of the real estate of the former fiancée of the Lviv businessman's son, artist Sofia Morozyuk, and another accomplice.
Reaction to the incident with grain in Dorohusk
The Embassy of Ukraine in Poland appealed to the police over the incident with dumped grain in Dorohusk, Poland, on the border with Ukraine, which occurred on February 11.
According to Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych, Polish farmers dumped grain from Ukrainian trailers in trucks that were sealed after customs procedures and were moving in transit to Lithuania.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine noted that they are monitoring the investigation into the incident and expect the perpetrators to be quickly identified and punished.
On the morning of February 12, Polish farmers began protests at two more checkpoints: Zosin-Ustyluh and Dolhobyczow-Uhryniv.
Pre-trial custody for ex-defense official Liyev
The former head of the Defense Ministry's department, Oleksandr Liyev, was taken into custody. He was also granted bail in the amount of 50 million hryvnias ($1.3 million).
Liyev and four other people are suspected of embezzling almost 1.5 billion hryvnias ($39.5 million) for the purchase of ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Rescue of an 80-year-old woman from occupation
An 80-year-old woman was taken from a temporarily occupied village in Donetsk Oblast, as she was unable to move on her own due to her serious condition and therefore could not evacuate. She had no relatives or friends nearby who could take care of her. She also refused to take a Russian passport and lived without a "pension".
