New aid from Japan and rubble clearance in Pokrovsk district: highlights for January 7

Japan will provide Ukraine with $37 million to buy systems to detect enemy drones. In the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, which was attacked by Russians with S—300 missiles on January 6, the bodies of a child and a man were pulled out of the rubble. Help from Japan
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa arrived in Kyiv on January 7 for an unannounced visit. Her arrival, which was Kamikawa's first foreign visit of the year, came against the backdrop of an upcoming conference on Ukraine's recovery in Japan on February 19.

During a joint briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, the Japanese foreign minister announced that her country would allocate $37 million to help Ukraine. The money will be used to purchase systems for detecting enemy drones.
Ukraine will also receive five mobile gas turbine generators and seven transformers.
Debris removal in Pokrovsk district
In the village of Rivne, Pokrovsk district, the body of a dead child was recovered from the site of a destroyed house. In this village, emergency rescue operations are underway to find 5 people, including 2 children, at the site of the destroyed house.
In Pokrovsk, the body of a man was pulled from the rubble. Three people are still being searched for, including two children. Earlier, one person was rescued and the body of a woman was recovered.
Rescuers have already dismantled 68 tons of destroyed building structures.
Testing the project for digital recruitment
The digital recruitment project for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is in its final stages. Together with some military brigades, we have already conducted several beta tests to find pilots for drones.
As the need for operators is growing in the company of attack drones, the pilot version of the project will be launched in the direction of attack UAVs. Beta testing is now testing the process and feedback from those who want to join the Armed Forces and mobilize to this particular company.
The death of the poet Maksym Kryvtsov
Poet and soldier Maksym Kryvtsov died in the war. He was a participant in the Revolution of Dignity in 2013-2014, and joined the Armed Forces as a volunteer in 2014.
Kryvtsov's collection Poems from the Loophole was recognized as one of the best books of Ukrainian poetry in 2023 by PEN Ukraine.
Writer Liubko Deresh said that the deceased defender did not complete his novel, which he was working on.
