New EU sanction package, Lithuanian fundraising, shelling of Avdiivka, Kramatorsk and Kherson: today's highlights
The European Union has officially published a list of restrictions in a new package of sanctions against Russia. Lithuania has raised €14 million to purchase functional tactical radars for Ukraine. EU bans Russians from working in critical infrastructure management
The European Union has officially published a list of restrictions in a new package of sanctions against Russia. This was reported by the EU Council and the European Commission.
The EU has added about 120 individuals and legal entities to the sanctions list, including:
- key figures involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia;
- 7 Iranian organizations that used EU components and supplied Shaheds to Russia;
- members and supporters of the Wagner PMC in Mali, CAR, etc;
- 96 organizations associated with the military-industrial complex of Russia;
- three Russian banks;
- a third-country shipping company suspected of helping Russia circumvent oil export sanctions.
The EU also suspended the broadcasting licenses of Russian propaganda resources RT Arabic and Sputnik Arabic.
Lithuania raises €14 million to purchase tactical radars for Ukraine
Lithuania has raised €14 million to purchase functional tactical radars for Ukraine. They will help monitor Ukraine's airspace. This was reported by the Lithuanian National Radio and Television.
The collection, called “Radarom!” (“Let's Radar!”), lasted almost a month, from January 30 to February 24. People could make donations by phone or online. Several companies also made contributions. The “Radarom!” campaign was organized by LRT together with Blue/Yellow, Laisvės TV, 1K fondas and Stiprūs kartu.
Three more people hit mines in Kherson Oblast
Near the village of Dobrianka, Beryslav Raion, Kherson Oblast, two people hit Russian mines while they were working in a field. This was reported by the regional military administration. It is noted that two farmers who ignored the warnings of the State Emergency Service died on the spot from serious injuries. And in Kherson, an elderly man tripped a tripwire at his summer house.
Avdiivka and Kramatorsk under Russian fire again
On February 25, the cities of Avdiivka and Kramatorsk in Donetsk Oblast were once again shelled by Russian occupation forces, resulting in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure. This was reported by the head of the regional military administration Pavlo Kyrylenko.
According to him, during the day, Russians shelled Avdiivka twice with artillery, once with tanks, and also launched an air strike and Grad missile attacks. The shells and rockets hit residential areas and the industrial zone. At least one person was reported wounded in Avdiivka.
Meanwhile, according to the Regional Military Administration, in Kramatorsk, Russians hit a residential area and a local outpatient clinic with a missile, which was destroyed. At least one person was wounded.
Occupiers shelled Kherson
Russian occupation forces have once again opened fire on Kherson. This was reported by the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
According to the regional authorities, two injured emergency workers were working to eliminate the consequences of the previous shelling when a new Russian attack began. The men received shrapnel wounds. The victims were hospitalized and provided with all necessary assistance.
