The Russian military fired missiles at Ukraine again, MP Mykola Tyshchenko was expelled from the Servant of the People party, and Canada decided to join the tank coalition. We have collected the main news for the day.

Massive missile attack

In the morning, the Russian army launched 55 missiles at Ukraine during a mass missile attack. Air defense destroyed 47 of them. Despite the successful work of air defense, the Russians managed to hit the energy infrastructure in at least two regions.

In addition, in the early hours of January 26, Russians attacked with drones. According to preliminary estimates by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 24 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones on January 26. All drones were destroyed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the General Staff said.

The massive drone and missile strikes on January 26 killed at least 11 people and injured others.

Tanks from Canada

Canada's Minister of National Defense Anita Anand has announced that her country will transfer four Leopard 2 main battle tanks of the Canadian Armed Forces to Kyiv. According to media reports, the Canadian army has a total of 112 tanks of this model.

MP excluded from Servant of the People

On January 26, the Ukrainian Embassy in Thailand reported that a meeting with Mykola Tyshchenko would be held in Bangkok on January 27 "to discuss issues of improving cooperation with representatives of the Ukrainian community."

Prior to that, on January 23, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted a decision of the National Security and Defense Council that allowed officials to travel outside Ukraine only on official trips during martial law.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk said that Mykola Tyshchenko had not been sent abroad. However, the State Border Guard Service reported that the lawmaker traveled abroad legally.

Eventually, the head of the Servant of the People party, Olena Shulyak, said that Tyshchenko had been expelled from the party. The deputy was also dismissed from the post of deputy head of the Servant of the People faction.

Ukrainian-made artillery system tested in combat

Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov published a photo of a 155 mm self-propelled artillery system "Bohdana" made in Ukraine. He emphasized that Western-made tanks at the front will be supported by Ukrainian artillery. According to the minister, one such artillery system has already been successfully tested on the battlefield.

National Police does not confirm harassment at Karpenko-Karyi University

The National Police stated that they have not established any circumstances that may indicate sexual harassment of female students by lecturer Volodymyr Talashko at the Karpenko-Kary National University of Theater, Cinema and Television in Kyiv.

The actress Nastia Verheles, who had previously told her story of harassment by Talashko, reacted to this as follows: "I don't understand, because I personally filed a claim , no one contacted me. I know that other girls have also written (claims — ed.), which specifically mentioned harassment. We need to continue (the legal struggle — ed.). But first of all, we need to find legal assistance."
