New military aid from the US, MP's vacation in the Maldives, and success on the southern front: highlights for July 25

The US has provided Ukraine with a new military aid package with drones and ammunition. Yurii Aristov, a member of the Servant of the People faction responsible for national security in the parliament, is spotted in the Maldives. In Kyiv, a court imposed a pre—trial restraint on a former Odesa military enlistment officer suspected of enriching himself. We have collected the key news of July 25.

New military aid

The United States has provided Ukraine with another military aid package worth $400 million.

Ukraine will receive additional ammunition for air defense and artillery, armored vehicles, anti-tank weapons, and other weapons.

At the same time, Norway made a contribution of NOK 250 million (approximately EUR 22 million) to the European Peace Fund (EPF). The funds will be used to help Ukraine, namely to supply ammunition and spare parts for Leopard II tanks.

The German arms group Rheinmetall will provide Ukraine with two Skynex air defense systems.

Situation at the frontline

Ukrainian defenders are making progress towards Staromaiorske in Donetsk Oblast, consolidating their positions. However, the Russian army continues to offer strong resistance, moving units and troops, and using reserves.

Currently, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Bakhmut, Melitopol, and Berdiansk directions.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops continue to conduct offensive operations north and south of the city of Bakhmut. During Ukraine's offensive and assault operations, the occupants were forced to withdraw from their positions near Andriivka.

The MP was spotted in the Maldives

Slidstvo.info, citing its own sources, reported that Yurii Aristov, deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, a member of the Servant of the People faction, was spotted in a 5-star hotel on the private island of Ithaafushi, Maldives, in mid-July.

The cost of accommodation for two people for one night at this hotel, according to the prices on Booking, varies from 100 thousand hryvnias for a villa on the beach with a swimming pool and a double bed to 323 thousand hryvnias for a villa with two bedrooms and a swimming pool.

After that, Aristov submitted his resignation to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Pre-trial restraint imposed on former Odesa regional military commissar

A court in Kyiv has imposed a pre-trial restraint on the former head of the Odesa Regional Recruitment Center, Yevhen Borysov. He was sent to custody for two months with the possibility of bail for UAH 150 million. Borysov is suspected of illegal enrichment and violation of the order of military service.

Earlier, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption concluded that Borysov had illegally enriched himself to the tune of UAH 188 million.

NAPC Chairman Oleksandr Novikov emphasized that the amount of this illicit enrichment is a record.

Meanwhile, the NAPC has already started lifestyle monitoring of the 102 heads of territorial recruitment and social support centers.

Another accident at a checkpoint in Kyiv

On the night of July 25, a fatal accident occurred in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv: a driver hit a soldier at a checkpoint. He was served with a notice of suspicion.

As a result of the accident, one soldier died from his injuries. Another was hospitalized in serious condition. In addition, the driver rammed another car with a soldier in it.

In May, the head of the Makariv District Court of Kyiv Oblast, Oleksiy Tandyr, ran over a 23-year-old National Guard soldier at a checkpoint in Kyiv. The soldier died on the spot from his injuries.

Horbunov decided not to take state funds for the series

TV presenter Yurii Horbunov has announced that his company has decided to refuse state funding for the TV series “Inhulets town”. UAH 33 million had been previously allocated for the show.

He added that the company has not received a single hryvnia. He and his team will continue to look for other opportunities “to produce the series and provide the team with jobs”.
