The laureates of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022 were human rights defender Ales Bialiatski from Belarus, as well as the Ukrainian human rights organization “Center for Civil Liberties” and the Russian human rights organization “Memorial”. This was announced by the Nobel Committee.
They explained that the laureates represent civil society in their home countries, which is important for peace and democracy. In addition, the Nobel Committee indicated that this year's laureates are not only fighters for human rights but also “for peaceful coexistence in neighboring countries”." The Committee believes that human rights advocates have revived “Alfred Nobel's vision of peace and brotherhood between nations”.
Liberated settlements in the east
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to liberate the Svatove Raion of Luhansk Oblast. They have already entered the village of Makiivka. This was reported by the 198th Territorial Defense Battalion.
The Ukrainian military also liberated another settlement in Kharkiv Oblast — the village of Podoly, Kupiansk Raion. This was announced by the commander of the Kraken special unit Kostiantyn Nemichev.

Ukraine has already freed more than 2.4 thousand sq. km of Kherson Oblast
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression, the Ukrainian defense forces have liberated more than 2.4 thousand square kilometers of the Kherson region. This was announced by the deputy head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko at a briefing on October 7.
According to him, currently, 6 settlements have been de-occupied in Kherson Raion, and 61 settlements were de-occupied in Berislav Raion. At the same time, stabilization measures have been carried out in 19 settlements of Berislav Raion.
Today's Russian attacks
On October 7, the occupying forces continued shelling Sumy Oblast: one person has been killed. This was announced by the Deputy Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko.
Russian occupation troops attacked Zaporizhzhia. Infrastructure objects in two districts were destroyed. This was announced by the head of the Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Starukh.
“Today, the occupiers used unmanned aerial vehicles for the first time. Preliminarily, these were Shahed-136 UAVs. That is why the city residents did not hear too loud explosions,” he said.
On the evening of October 7, the occupying forces shelled Nikopol Raion of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. As a result of the strike, one man died, and another was injured. This was announced by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Valentyn Reznichenko.
