Operation on Snake Island: Ukrainian forces carried out 10 attacks on Russian troops

The Ukrainian forces attacked Russian troops on Snake Island 10 times on June 27. This is a continuation of Ukrainian forces' operation on Snake Island, says a spokeswoman of Ukraine's Operational Command South Natalia Humeniuk.

"We are investigating the situation, but it has already been confirmed that another anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex, Pantsir-C1, has been hit," the spokeswoman said.

According to her, there is a storm in the Black Sea now, but the Russian forces still keep on duty two ships carrying 16 cruise missiles.

Situation on Snake Island

Now, Snake Island is controlled by Russian troops. But the Ukrainian forces regularly report on the destruction of Russian equipment based on the Snake Island. In May, they destroyed the Russian Tor missile system. On June 17, they also sank the Russian tug vessel Vasily Bekh used to transport Russian personnel and ammunition.

Ukrainian intelligence explains that Snake Island is of strategic importance for both Ukraine and the Russian forces, as it allows to control the surface and, to some extent, the air situations in southern Ukraine.
