Plastic Surgeon Shot Dead in Central Kyiv

An unknown man fired several shots at a 42-year-old plastic surgeon, took his bag and disappeared in downtown Kyiv. Police are conducting a special operation to identify the attacker.

This was reported by the Kyiv Police press service.

“Around 6 p.m. we were informed that an unknown man shot several times at another man on Saksahanskoho Street and fled the scene. All our flying squads are tasked with finding and detaining him,” the message reads.

An investigative team, a forensic laboratory, cynologists and operatives are working at the scene.

As hromadske established, the deceased man is Andriy Sotnyk. He was a resident of Kyiv, born in 1977. Sotnyk worked as a manager at DMK Ukraine. The company’s website states that he was a Candidate of Medical Sciences, an operating, plastic and aesthetic surgeon.

Investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code. The sanction of the article provides for up to 15 years in prison.

Deputy Head of the National Police, Chief of Criminal Police Yevhen Koval and Deputy Chief of the Kyiv Police Herman Prystupa are also present at the scene.

The latter told hromadske that the murdered man had rented an apartment at this address after moving from the Donetsk region in 2014.
