Political Prisoner Sentsov Makes Will Public

Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov, who is serving a 20—year sentence in a Russian penal colony for fabricated terrorism charges, has requested that his will, written while on hunger strike, be made public.
Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov, who is serving a 20-year sentence in a Russian penal colony for fabricated terrorism charges, has requested that his will, written while on hunger strike, be made public.
Sentsov ended his nearly five-month hunger strike in early October for health reasons. At the time, there were serious concerns among his supporters that the hunger strike had caused irreversible and even fatal damage.

In his will, the filmmaker asks that his friend and colleague Yevhenia Vradiy take on the production of five of his screenplays, three of which he penned while in prison. He also appoints his children as heirs.
His cousin Nataliya Kaplan provided Hromadske with a copy of his will. It reads as follows.

“I, Oleg Gennadyevich Sentsov, being of sound mind and bona memoria, instruct that, in the event of my death, my associate and co-director Yevhenia Vradiy take on the films based on my scripts Rhinoceros, Kai, as well as Brilliant World, Crows and Kristi, which I wrote in custody, as director. If she declines, she has the right to choose who will be reassigned these films, as well as the production company for these films.
I appoint my children Alina Sentsov and Vladislav Sentsov as my legal successors, heirs and recipients of my royalties after my death. This will was made at the penal colony No.8, Labytnangi, in the presence of and witnessed by my lawyer Dmitry Dinze. 07.09.18”
