Pre-trial restraint for businessman Mazepa, SBU special operation at oil depot in Bryansk Oblast: highlights

On January 19, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv imposed a measure of restraint on businessman Ihor Mazepa and two other defendants in his case — they will be kept in custody. Pre-trial restraint for businessman Mazepa

The Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv imposed a pre-trial restraint on businessman and owner of the Concorde Capital investment company Ihor Mazepa in the form of detention until February 27.

He can post bail in the amount of more than 349 million hryvnias ($9.3 million), while the prosecution requested 700 million ($18.6 million). The businessman also emphasized that he plans to appeal.

Earlier, two other defendants in the Mazepa case were also taken into custody. As an alternative, the prosecutor's office demanded that bail be set at 500 million ($13.3 million). However, the court partially granted this request, setting bail in the amount of 45 million ($1.2 million) and 20 million ($532,673).

Fire at the oil depot in Bryansk

Ukrainian military intelligence attacked an oil depot in Bryansk Oblast of Russia with drones, causing a large fire. A source in the Main Intelligence Directorate told hromadske that it was a new special operation of the HUR, during which a hit was recorded.

According to local authorities, four tanks with oil products were burning during the fire. The fire was assigned an increased complexity rating, and more than 140 people were involved in extinguishing the fire.

New details of surveillance of Bihus.Info journalists

Project manager Denys Bihus said that at least 30 people were involved in the surveillance of the Bihus.Info team on the property of the Ukrainian Village ethnographic complex near Kyiv. Cameras were probably installed in all the hotel rooms of the staff and even in the sauna.

The project's journalists also found out that a week before the project team arrived, a man had booked the sauna and the same rooms as the journalists, but for the day before their arrival.

Conflict with Ombudsman representatives in a Poltava hospital

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that his representative's work was obstructed in a Poltava hospital.

The director of the medical institution allegedly treated the monitoring group with disdain and called its members "boys". The hospital said that the ombudsman's representatives behaved aggressively and provoked a conflict.

The ombudsman's office appealed to the police.

Plans to launch an electronic office for persons liable for military service

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to launch an electronic account for persons liable for military service in the second quarter of 2024. It will allow updating credentials without visiting a military registration and enlistment center.

In addition, it will be possible to submit an electronic application for the status of a combatant through this account.

Statement on the abduction of a musician by military commissariat employees

The music band Intermezzo stated that their lead singer Volodymyr Bilyk and his friend Andriy Duletskyi were detained and beaten by the military commissariat in Chernivtsi. Duletskyi was allegedly forced to undergo a military medical examination and taken to an unknown location.

The band says that there were no grounds for the military medical examination, as Andriy Duletskyi is unfit for military service for health reasons, and the band's lead singer Volodymyr Bilyk works as a teacher at 1.25 times the rate.

At the same time, the police deny beating the men and say they were detained legally.
