President Zelenskyy signs mobilization bill into law

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed the mobilization bill into law, according to the website of the parliament.
Most of the law's provisions will come into force in a month, on May 16. Zelenskyy said this bill would help the country's military leadership, and it also contains provisions to support the troops who are constantly at the front, in particular through rotations and leave.
On April 11, the Ukrainian parliament passed the draft law on mobilization in the second reading. According to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, the main provisions of the bill that passed the second reading are as follows:
- a provision on the right to discharge from service for people with disabilities;
- the possibility of discharge from service after captivity;
- men recognized as partially fit will be required to undergo a re-evaluation within 12 months;
- those who received disability groups 2 and 3 after February 24, 2022 (except for military personnel) are subject to a second medical examination to determine their fitness for service;
- military personnel, in case of concluding the first contract, are entitled to compensation of 50% of the down payment on a loan secured by a mortgage;
- restriction of consular services for men aged 18 to 60 without military registration documents;
- restrictions on driving vehicles by persons liable for military service at the request of military commissariats.
In addition, the adopted document does not contain a provision that would provide for the demobilization of soldiers after 36 months of service by the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.
