Return of defenders from captivity, strikes of Ukrainian aviation: highlights of the day
Ukraine returned 107 servicemen from captivity, including the defenders of Azovstal; the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted 12 strikes on the clusters of Russian weapons, equipment and air defense positions. We have collected the major news for today.
Return of captured defenders
On November 3, Ukraine and Russia conducted another exchange of prisoners. 107 servicemen were returned home, including 6 officers and 101 privates and sergeants.
Soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Navy, the territorial defense units, the State Border Guard Service, the National Police, the State Special Transport Service and the National Guard, including three Azov soldiers, were released.
Among the released are 74 defenders of Azovstal. "Some volunteers flew by helicopter to Mariupol to save lives and fight for the city," the President's Office noted.
Strikes of Ukrainian aviation
Aviation of the Defense Forces conducted 12 strikes on the occupiers on November 3. They hit eight clusters of weapons and military equipment of the Russians, as well as four positions of air defense of the Russian troops, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reported.
The army command added that Ukrainian missile troops and artillery hit three clusters of manpower, two clusters of weapons and military equipment, as well as two ammunition depots and other important military facilities of the Russians.
Collecting for APCs
Serhiy Prytula's Charitable Foundation has raised 236 million hryvnias ($6.4 million) for 60 British Spartan tracked armored personnel carriers in a day and a half. Initially, it was planned to raise money for the purchase of 50 units.
Prytula noted that Ukrainian troops in the fall-winter period need tracked vehicles because of their greater cross-country ability.
Disappearance of Russian tricolor
The Russian flag disappeared from the building of the regional state administration in the temporarily occupied Kherson, and the occupation checkpoints were removed in the city. However, local authorities and the military believe that the Russians are trying to mislead Ukrainians.
The head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine Natalia Humeniuk said on the air of the national telethon that the occupiers can "create the impression that the settlements have been abandoned and it is safe to enter them".
Ukraine, Putin, G20
Ukraine will not participate in the G20 summit in Indonesia if Russian President Vladimir Putin makes an appearance.
"I do not follow the participation of others in the G20 summit. My personal and Ukraine's position was that if the leader of the Russian Federation participates, Ukraine will not. Let's see how it will b turn out in the future," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
