Rocket attack on Kharkiv, preparation for liberation of southern Ukraine: last night's highlights

The Russian occupiers again launched a missile attack on Kharkiv, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the Armed Forces to prepare for the de-occupation of the south. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Rocket attack on Kharkiv

In the early hours of July 11, Russian troops once again launched a rocket attack on the city of Kharkiv, as a result of which a six-story residential building in the central part of the city was partially destroyed. The rescuers recovered one elderly woman, the debris is being cleared.

One entry section was destroyed — apartments from the 5th to the ground floor were destroyed, no information has been reported so far about the dead or injured.

Preparation for the liberation of the south

Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the Armed Forces to de-occupy the coastal areas of the south. He says that Ukraine is already gathering "million-strong fighting forces" and Western weapons for this.

According to Reznikov, the head of state instructed the military leadership to work on the de-occupation plan. For this purpose, the General Staff of the Armed Forces is currently compiling a list of what is needed at the front, and the Ministry of Defense is trying to find it.

Vereshchuk called on Ukrainians to leave the south

The Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, Iryna Vereshchuk, called on Ukrainians to leave the occupied parts of the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson oblasts so that the Armed Forces would not endanger the civilian population during the counteroffensive. Vereshchuk calls to leave in any direction, even through the occupied Crimea.

Strikes on the command posts of the occupiers

Aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the southern front hit the command and observation post of the artillery brigade of the occupiers and the command and control post of the Russian Guard. The enemy lost at least 38 soldiers and 10 pieces of equipment during the day.

The command noted that the Russians in the south are keeping behind the lines of defense, are not advancing by land, and do not have the capabilities and resources to create new strike groups. At the same time, Ukrainian troops "keep the enemy in constant tension" by "unexpected application of various forms and methods of influence."

The shelling of Bakhmut

Russian invading forces shelled the private sector of the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, with incendiary ammunition, as a result of which at least seven residential buildings burned down.

Military registration is not based on the place of residence

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Denys Monastyrskyi, said that currently more than 3 million people in Ukraine are on military registration in territorial recruitment and social support centers outside of their place of residence.

"And this is an issue that must be resolved in the near future, and first of all, it must be the position of the citizens themselves, who must register for the military," said the minister, emphasizing that there should be no restrictions on the movement of people between regions.

Liz Truss will compete for UK PM job

British Foreign Minister Liz Truss has put forward her candidacy for the position of leader of the Conservative Party and prime minister of the country. Earlier, she repeatedly stated that Ukraine should be supported until a complete victory over the Russian army.

Along with Truss, there are currently 11 Conservative Party candidates in the running to succeed Boris Johnson as party leader and prime minister.

The occupiers destroyed the monument to Vasyl Slipak

Near the village of Luhanske in Donetsk Oblast, the occupiers and collaborators destroyed a monument to the famous opera singer Vasyl "Myth" Slipak, who died in the battles for Donbas.
