Russia reports attack on fleet in Sevastopol, EU calls for expulsion of Chinese ambassador: last night's highlights

Members of the European Parliament called on France to declare the Chinese ambassador persona non grata, and the Russians announced an attack on the fleet in Sevastopol by surface drones. Here's what you may have missed from the previous night.

Call by MEPs

A group of about 80 MEPs called on France to declare the Chinese ambassador persona non grata, who said that former Soviet countries "do not have effective status under international law."

The parliamentarians stated that the Chinese ambassador's comments violate international law and should be considered a threat to the security of France's European partner countries. The lawmakers added that at a time when Russia's war against Ukraine's territorial integrity is raging in Europe, it is extremely important that the democratic world send an unambiguous signal to authoritarian countries.

Russia's report of drone attack

Russian protege, the "governor" of occupied Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, announced an attack on the Russian fleet by surface drones on the night of April 24.

According to him, the occupation forces of anti-submarine warfare allegedly destroyed one surface drone, and the second "exploded on its own." According to the Russian puppet, no facilities were allegedly damaged in the incident.
