Attack on the ports of Odesa Oblast
On the night of August 2, Russian troops attacked the port and industrial infrastructure in Odesa Oblast.
According to the South Operational Command, air defense forces destroyed 11 Shahed-136 attack drones. The Russians launched the drones from the Azov Sea through the Black Sea. The air defense system worked for almost three hours.
During the Russian attack on Ukraine, the port of Izmail, Odesa Oblast, on the Danube was damaged. This led to an increase in world food prices.
As a result of Russian strikes on grain warehouses and elevators in southern Ukraine, almost 40,000 tons of grain, which was expected by African countries, China, and Israel, were damaged.
The first Ukrainian demining machine
A machine for preparing the ground for demining, developed by Kharkiv specialists, has been certified in Ukraine. This makes it possible to set up its production and use it for demining.

The equipment can effectively neutralize anti-personnel mines and detect anti-tank mines. Currently, manufacturers can produce two machines a month, according to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
Situation at the front
As a result of the Ukrainian army's offensive, the Russian occupiers were forced to withdraw from their positions in the area south of Andriivka, located south of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast.
The General Staff also said that the Russian occupiers unsuccessfully tried to regain their lost positions north and west of Klishchiivka, and northwest of Kurdiumivka, which is also in the Bakhmut direction. Heavy fighting continues there.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions.
Arson attacks on military enlistment offices in Russia and Crimea
Over the past five days - from July 29 to August 2 - at least 28 attempts were made to set fire to military enlistment offices and other facilities associated with the Russian Ministry of Defense in Russia and occupied Crimea.
In many cases, the suspected arsonists said they were deceived by fraudsters posing as FSB officers. Many of the detainees believed that by setting fire to military enlistment offices they were helping to catch the real criminals.
Updated “Defense of Ukraine”
Starting in September, schools in different regions of Ukraine are planning to launch a pilot project of the updated “Defense of Ukraine” discipline.
The program will include first aid skills, terrain orienteering, mine safety knowledge, and drone piloting skills.
“Mine safety knowledge will help to save lives and health, and to behave properly in case of detection of explosive devices. UAV piloting skills are a competitive advantage; they are used by videographers, surveyors, archaeologists, and many other professionals in their professional activities,” the ministry said.
Response to criticism of first aid kits and turnstiles
The Commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General of the Medical Service Tetiana Ostashchenko, stated that the information about the absence of procurement of first aid kits is not true.
Ostashchenko explained that the information on the volume of both procurement and logistical assistance is information for official use.
She also said that the development of unified approaches and standards for assessing the quality of first aid kits and turnstiles has been initiated.
A new MP
The Central Election Commission has recognized Nataliia Loktionova as the newly elected MP of Ukraine. She will replace Yurii Aristov, who was exposed by journalists while on vacation in the Maldives.
According to the CHESNO movement, Nataliia Loktionova graduated from the Kyiv National Economic University named after V. Hetman with a degree in International Economics and Management.
At the time of the 2019 elections, she was officially unemployed.
