Russian Defense Ministry claims destruction of Ukrainian helicopter. Ukraine intel denies it was American Black Hawk

The Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as the so—called military bloggers, claim that a Ukrainian helicopter was destroyed at the border – a Mi—8 or Black Hawk, which was transferred to the Ukrainian army from the United States, reported the TASS propaganda agency, citing the Russian Defense Ministry and milblogger Yevgeny Poddubny.

According to the propagandists, the helicopter was shot down by Russians from a Verba MANPADS over Lukashivka, Sumy Oblast. It was allegedly flying in the direction of the village of Kozinka, Belgorod Oblast. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that the downed helicopter was an Mi-8 belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the same time, the so-called Russian military blogger Poddubny said that the helicopter was probably an American UH-60 (Black Hawk) or Mi-24. He also added that there were allegedly about 20 soldiers on board, who were supposed to land in the Russian village of Kozinka.

Ukrainian intelligence denied that it was an American Black Hawk, and the Main Intelligence Directorate called the reports of its downing, which are being spread in Russia, "fake news."

The DIU also posted a video of the American helicopters on social media, noting that all of them "are in excellent working order, their crews continue to perform combat and special missions."
