Russian occupation troops in Kherson Oblast used an anti-tank guided missile to shell a minibus with civilians trying to flee occupation on August 1, reported Oksana Kozyrenko, a representative of the Operational Group of the "Kakhovka" troops.

According to her, people from the village of Starosillia in Kherson Oblast were trying to reach the safer territory. The occupiers near the village of Dovhove targeted a civilian vehicle with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).

"It was not an accidental shelling, but a deliberate attack at a civilian car. ATGM is a weapon designed to destroy tanks and other armored targets. Imagine if it penetrates the armor, what it did to a civilian car," Kozyrenko said.

The representative also reports that eight people were injured as a result of the shelling. They are adults, the youngest person was born in 1986. There were no children among them.

After the attack, two people died on the spot, and one man died on the way to the hospital. Five more people are now hospitalized in serious conditions with multiple injuries, including multiple fractures and 80% of body burns. One person is in a coma.

"It was an unorganized evacuation. There were no identification marks on the car. However, experience shows that the identification signs "civilian" and "children" do not help - the Russians still fire at that cars because they think they are Ukrainian military. Therefore, the population is in no hurry to put the signs on their cars," Kozyrenko added.

The situation in Kherson Oblast

The situation in the region remains tense. Combat actions are impacting the region heavily: villages and roads are destroyed, bridges and river banks are mined, and fields, forests, and houses are burned.

During the past week, rescuers extinguished 121 fires. Many fires in the villages are extinguished by the locals as the Russian forces do not allow firefighters to access the sites.

According to official information, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already de-occupied 46 settlements in the region. All liberated villages are seriously damaged.
