Russians hit Odesa with missiles during Zelenskyy's meeting with Greek Prime Minister, Suspilne reports

On the morning of March 6, Russian troops attacked Odesa, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had arrived. The head of state reported the deaths and injuries.

This was reported by Suspilne.

Officially, the Odesa City Council and the Odesa Regional Military Administration did not report any consequences of the shelling, nor did they report any deaths or injuries. At around 10:40 am, the city council and the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, announced an air raid alert on social media that lasted until 11:18 am.

However, Zelenskyy told reporters that he knew about the dead and wounded.

“We saw this strike today. You see who we are dealing with, they don't care where they strike. I know that there were victims today, I don't know all the details yet, but I know that there are dead and wounded,” the President said.

At the time of the attack, the head of state was visiting the port with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. According to the Greek prime minister, the explosions were not far from them.

Mitsotakis said that the alarm sounded when Zelenskyy was explaining the importance of the port and what was being done to restore and strengthen Ukrainian sea routes in the Black Sea.

“At the very end, we heard the sound of sirens and explosions that were very close to us. We didn't have time to go to a protected place, it was a very impressive experience,” the Greek prime minister said.

Earlier, the Protothema, citing sources in the Greek government, wrote that the Russian shelling occurred 150 meters from the delegation from Athens and allegedly hit the motorcade of the Ukrainian president.

Night strike

On the night of March 6, air defense forces shot down 18 Shaheds over Odesa region, the city council reported.

It noted that the Russians had sent attack drones at settlements and industrial facilities in the coastal zone. The maneuvers of the drones in residential areas complicated the work of the air defense forces.

The falling wreckage of downed drones in the Odesa district damaged a recreational facility, a gas pipeline, and houses.
