Russians shell Marhanets and Zaporizhzhya, Norway hands over temporary bridges: last night's highlights
On the evening of January 11, Russian troops shelled Marhanets, one person was wounded, and in the early hours of January 12, Zaporizhzhya came under Russian fire; Norway handed over 10 temporary bridges to Ukraine. Here's what you may have missed from the previous night.
Shelling of Marhanets and Zaporizhzhya
Russian occupation troops shelled Marhanets, Nikopol district, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, on January 11. As a result, one person was injured and infrastructure was damaged.
In the early hours of January 12, Russians shelled Zaporizhzhya. As a result of the strike, infrastructure facilities and civilian houses were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate no victims.
Temporary bridges from Norway
Norway has donated 10 temporary bridges worth 30 million Norwegian kroner ($3 million) to Ukraine. They will be installed in the liberated territories.
These are temporary bridge structures suitable for the movement of trucks with humanitarian aid, ambulances, fire trucks, repair crews, etc.
Impact of war on Ukrainians
About 14 million Ukrainians feel the impact of the war on their psycho-emotional state, says Health Minister Viktor Lyashko. The Ministry of Health is working to ensure that people can receive psychological assistance through the team of family doctors. Therefore, training according to the WHO standard was launched for family doctors.
Permission to join Ukraine's Armed Forces
The President of Slovakia allowed seven citizens of the country to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine and fight for Ukraine. There were three times more applicants, but they were refused.
Slovak legislation prohibits citizens to serve in foreign armed forces. To do this, you need to get permission from the Slovak President.

- on January 10, officers of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police handed over 315,000 packs of cigarettes to the Ukrainian military, which were confiscated by law enforcement officers in the framework of Operation Excise;
- Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that since January 1, small volumes of electricity have been imported to Ukraine;
- British intelligence believes that the appointment of a new commander of the Russian occupation forces is a clear recognition by Vladimir Putin that the course of hostilities does not meet Russia's strategic goals.
