Russians shelled Mykolaiv, and Ukraine and Italy plan to jointly produce air defense systems: last night’s highlights

Russians fired missiles at Mykolaiv – at least 15 people were injured and one killed; Ukraine and Italy plan to jointly produce air defense systems to protect infrastructure. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Shelling of Mykolaiv

On the night of April 27, the Russians shelled Mykolaiv with four S-300 missiles. A multi-story building and a detached house were hit. The head of the Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, also wrote that ambulances went to a third address, but he did not disclose details. At least 15 people are known to have been injured and one killed as a result of the shelling of the city.

In addition, Russian occupation forces continued to shell the territory of Sumy Oblast on April 26, with about 100 hits recorded in the region over the day. Two residents were injured and civilian infrastructure was damaged.

The joint production of air defense systems

Ukraine and Italy are planning to jointly produce air defense systems that will protect infrastructure from enemy drone attacks, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

“We are expanding the horizons of cooperation between Ukraine and Italy in the defense industry. We are considering the possibility of joint production of components of these systems. We are working to have more of such effective air defense systems. They will create a reliable shield around our strategic infrastructure facilities,” he said.
