Ukrainian border guards captured a Russian stronghold near Bakhmut in the Donbas, and Sumy Oblast was attacked with 144 mines. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Capture of stronghold near Bakhmut

Ukrainian border guards near Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, captured a Russian stronghold and improved their tactical position. According to the border guards, last night the Russians tried to regain the lost position, but they failed. Eventually, the occupiers were driven back. In close combat, Ukrainian border guards killed 18 Russians, and another 24 were wounded.

Almost 150 mines in Sumy Oblast

Russian troops launched 144 mines at Sumy Oblast on January 8. As a result, several local residential buildings, a school and a village club were damaged, but there were no victims. Esman, Myropillia, Novoslobidska, Bilopilska and Khotin communities were under fire.
