Russians attacked Kharkiv: a missile hit a residential building in the city center; two foreign ships were damaged in the shelling of the Kherson port, and oil products leaked into the Dnipro. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.
Shelling of Kharkiv
Late in the evening of January 29, Russian occupation forces launched a missile attack on Kharkiv, hitting civilian infrastructure.
According to the latest data from the Regional Military Administration, one person was killed and at least three were wounded.
Damage to foreign vessels in Kherson port
On January 29, Russian occupants attacked the port of Kherson, damaging two vessels belonging to foreign companies, the Regional Military Administration reported.
A Russian shell also pierced the hull and fuel storage area of one of the ships. This caused a leak of oil products into the Dnipro River. As of 20:30 on January 29, the ship's crew managed to localize the leak.
And at 21:50, the Regional Military Administration reported a Russian attack on settlements in the Beryslav district with banned incendiary munitions, publishing a video.
Letter to Macron
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has written a letter to his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron over the International Olympic Committee's intention to allow Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
“The IOC's attempts to bring Russian athletes back to compete and to the Olympics is an attempt to tell the whole world that terror can be something acceptable. As if it is possible to turn a blind eye to what Russia is doing to Kherson, to Kharkiv, to Bakhmut and Avdiivka,” Zelenskyy said.
