Shelling of Kharkiv, financial aid from Germany, Ukrainian actor wounded: last night's highlights

The Russian military hit a pyrotechnics warehouse during the shelling of Kharkiv; Germany will provide Ukraine with €20 million to finance Starlink; Ukrainian actor Dmytro Linartovych was shell—shocked and seriously wounded in the battle for Soledar. Shelling of Kharkiv

In the evening of January 10, Russians shelled the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv, hitting a pyrotechnics warehouse, which began to detonate. No victims were reported by the regional administration.

New financial assistance from Germany

Germany will provide Ukraine with €20 million to finance Starlink satellite communication services. These funds will be enough to pay for the operation of 10,000 ground stations. One-third of the financed terminals will be transferred to the needs of the Ukrainian military, the German Foreign Ministry said.


Ukrainian actor wounded at front

Ukrainian actor of theater, cinema and dubbing Dmytro Linartovych received concussion and was seriously wounded in the battles for Soledar in Donbas. He played the main part in the film "Firecrosser", and also played in the films "Toloka", "Exchange".

Linartovych serves as a scout in the 46th separate air assault battalion. The actor is also a lecturer at the Department of Cinema and TV Art of the Educational and Research Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Russians attempt to disrupt Banksy auction

Russians tried to disrupt a charity online auction where 50 stencil drawings by anonymous artist Banksy were sold to raise funds for Ukraine, the Legacy of War Foundation reports.

The organizers said that the foundation's website received more than 1 million requests for the purchase of stencils. Also, the site was attacked by 3,500 attacks from Russian IP addresses. The charity is now reviewing the registered applications and promises to notify the successful candidates soon.

  • Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey supports the "peace formula" offered by Ukraine to end the war;
  • a Polish volunteer and a female volunteer who were wounded near Bakhmut were transported to a hospital in Poland. The man has a bullet shrapnel wound – his shin was amputated;
  • Ukrainian servicemen will be trained to use Patriot air defense systems next week, CNN reports;
  • Switzerland as a producing country blocks the supply of certain weapons from Spain to Ukraine, said the Spanish Defense Minister;
  • Pakistan in January plans to send ammunition, in particular artillery rounds, to Ukraine through a port in Poland, India's The Economic Times writes with reference to anonymous informed sources.
