President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the frontline in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Russian occupiers shelled Sloviansk, killing two people and wounding 32. We have collected the key news for today.

Zelenskyy's trip

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the frontline positions of the Ukrainian military in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. He also traveled to Zaporizhzhia, visited the site of the Russian shelling on March 22, and together with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi went to the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Later it became known that the president also visited the city of Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, which is constantly under fire from Russian occupation forces.

Shelling of Sloviansk

In the morning, Russian troops fired two S-300 missiles at Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast. Two people were killed and 32 others were injured. Five of the victims are in serious condition. Administrative and office buildings, 5 high-rise buildings, and 7 houses were also destroyed.

In addition, the occupiers fired two S-300 missiles at Druzhkivka, almost destroying an orphanage. However, no one was injured.

Finland's accession to NATO

The Hungarian Parliament has approved Finland's accession to NATO. Only one country in the Alliance, Turkey, has not yet supported this decision. Despite this, the Hungarian parliament has not yet scheduled a vote on Sweden's accession.

During the meeting, Hungarian Foreign Minister Tamás Menze said that “all signs and our hope point to a relationship based on mutual respect” with Finland. At the same time, he said, Hungary allegedly did not receive such assurances from Sweden.

UN statement on possible “discrimination” against UOC-MP

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko said that freedom is not the same as the right to undermine national security. This is how he reacted to the UN statement that searches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate could be “discrimination”.

The spokesperson also called on the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to refrain from unbalanced political assessments and base its reports on facts. The UOC-MP responded that Nikolenko's comment “consists only of templates inherent in Russian propaganda”.

“His post should be understood as an open accusation of the entire UOC of activities against national security. Having done so without any reference to a fair court verdict, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine only confirmed the veracity of the conclusions of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and once again showed an openly slanderous and discriminatory attitude,” the UOC-MP states.

The case of rape in Zakarpattia

The prosecutor's office is preparing an appeal against the verdict in the case of the rape of a minor girl in Zakarpattia. Before that, the court of first instance imposed a suspended sentence.

At the same time, the Zakarpattia Regional Administration has been instructed to ensure that the victim and her attackers do not attend school at the same time.
