Since the beginning of 2024, Russians fired over 180 air targets at Kyiv, city administration says

From January 1 to April 1, 2024, Russian troops fired over 180 munitions at Kyiv. These include hypersonic, cruise, and ballistic missiles, as well as attack drones, reported the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Serhiy Popko.

According to him, in the first quarter, the Russians fired the following at the Ukrainian capital:

  • 5 3M22 Zircon hypersonic missiles;
  • 11 X-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles;
  • 6 Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
  • 3 X-69 cruise missiles;
  • 1 Kalibr cruise missile;
  • 113 X-101 cruise missiles;
  • 48 Shahed attack drones.

"It was incredibly difficult, but we withstood these attacks. I am honored and grateful to our air defense warriors who cover the sky over the capital. It's scary to imagine the consequences if all these powerful means of destruction had reached their targets!" said Popko.

In addition, the governor called on international partners to provide Ukraine with more air defense equipment.

Previous missile attack on Kyiv

On March 25, Russian troops fired two ballistic missiles at Kyiv, which were shot down. As a result of the attack, 10 people were injured. The building of the Mykhailo Boychuk Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design was damaged.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that the type of missiles was being identified, but the Defence Express and Ukrainska Pravda's sources in law enforcement agencies said that they were 3M22 Zircon hypersonic missiles.
