Strengthening security in north, death of pilot, sentence for molesting schoolgirls: last night's highlights
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on strengthening the northern border. Navigator Denys Kyryliuk, who had flown more than 80 combat missions, was killed while performing a combat mission. In Lviv, a man who molested minors while dressed as a woman was sentenced. Here's what you may have missed from the previous night.
Strengthening northern border
On March 28, during a trip to Sumy Oblast, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the commanders directly responsible for the protection of Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts. He noted that "there are issues that need to be addressed."
On March 28, Russians shelled Sumy Oblast with grenade launchers and other weapons. More than 100 hits were recorded per day.
At the same time, the Security Service reported that it had detained a border guard together with the State Border Guard Service who was going to pass on information to the Russians about the protection of Ukraine's northern borders.
Death of aviation squadron navigator
Deputy commander of an aviation squadron and navigator Denys Kyryliuk was killed while performing a combat mission.
The fighter pilot flew over 80 combat missions, 70 of which were during the full-scale invasion to destroy the enemy.

Only 19 days ago, Kyryliuk's wife gave birth to a son. He is also survived by a young daughter.
Sentence for molesting schoolgirls
The Sykhiv District Court of Lviv found a Kyiv resident guilty of molesting schoolgirls. The man dressed in women's clothing and entered schools posing as a doctor.
The investigation found that in December 2021, a man dressed as a woman entered two schools in Lviv. In one of the restrooms, he "examined" a 7-year-old girl under the guise of a doctor. A similar incident occurred 11 days later in another school, but the girl managed to escape.
The court sentenced him to eight years in prison. The man also has to pay 150,000 hryvnias ($4,068) for moral damages to the family of the 7-year-old girl.

- The National Information Bureau under the Ministry of Reintegration of Ukraine reported that 19,514 Ukrainian children are currently considered to be illegally deported.
- U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have a "very good chance" of a successful counteroffensive this spring. In particular, due to the fact that Ukraine has depleted Russian forces and resources.
- On March 28, strong winds in Odesa knocked down about 50 trees and large branches. Two people were injured in the storm. According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, wind gusts of 15-20 m/s will continue in Ukraine on the morning of March 29, except in the east.
- The United States will withhold some data on its nuclear forces in response to Moscow's suspension of participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START III or New Start).
