Successes of the Ukrainian army in the south
On August 23, the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the southern front carried out three strikes with helicopters on clusters of manpower, weapons and equipment of the occupiers in Novovoznesenske, Arkhanhelske and Pravdyne of Kherson Oblast, Operation Command "South" reported.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 13 enemy troops, a self-propelled howitzer "Msta-S", and three units of automotive equipment. In addition, the Ukrainian military hit an ammunition depot in Novovoskresenske, Kherson Oblast.
Destruction of a Russian helicopter
On August 23, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed five Russian operational-tactical drones and a Ka-52 helicopter, which is also known as the Alligator.

Statement of the participants of the Crimean Platform summit
About 60 representatives of foreign states and organizations approved a joint statement based on the outcome of the second Crimean Platform summit. They condemned the occupation of the peninsula and Russian aggression towards Ukraine in general.
The participants of the summit stressed that they consider the occupation of Crimea a violation of the sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as a direct challenge to international security.
UN Security Council convened by Russia
On August 23, the UN Security Council again held a meeting on the issue of security at the captured Zaporizhzhia NPP, which was convened by the Russian Federation in order to accuse Ukraine of provocations around the plant. At the meeing:
- Norway condemned Russia's use of the UN Security Council as a platform to spread disinformation;
- Ireland stated that the danger to the Zaporizhzhia NPP comes exclusively from Russia;
- the representative of Russia once again began to accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine of allegedly shelling the territory of the NPP and Enerhodar;
- Sergiy Kyslytsya, the permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN, emphasized that the whole world wants to hear from the Russian Federation the statement that it is demilitarizing the nuclear power plant, withdrawing its troops from it and returning the facility to the control of the Ukrainian government.
Reznikov's statement
Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov stated in response to a question whether the Russo-Ukrainian war was drifting into a stalemate that the "worst scenario" of the war is behind.
"We are in a stage of stabilizing all the battlefield or battle lines with the small moving of the units, and we made a lot of good deterrents there," the minister said.
