Suicide attempt in military commissariat, strikes on Russian refineries: highlights for March 16

In Zakarpattya Oblast, a man tried to commit suicide inside a military commissariat. Ukraine has struck three oil refineries in Russia. Ukraine's Defense Intelligence said that Russian volunteer fighters conducting an operation in two regions of Russia do not intend to stop yet. We have collected the main news for March 16.

A man tried to commit suicide while at the military registration and enlistment office in Khust, Zakarpattya.
According to the military commissariat, the man was detained on March 13 when he allegedly wanted to illegally cross the border. After that, border guards took him to the military enlistment office to clarify his military registration data. There, the man went to the restroom, where he was later found with cuts on his arms.
At the same time, the man's relatives claim that he wanted to commit suicide because of the severe beatings he received from the military commissariat employees. His girlfriend says that border guards kidnapped him from a hotel in Vynohradiv. Then, according to the woman, the man was taken to the border with Hungary and accused of an illegal attempt to leave.
The police said that criminal proceedings were opened over the incident under Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which is incitement to suicide.
Oil refineries on fire in Russia
Russia reported that on the night of March 16, drones attacked the Syzran oil refinery and the Novokuibyshevsky oil refinery. Both are located in Russia's Samara Oblast. A fire broke out at the enterprises.
Sources in law enforcement agencies told hromadske that the Security Service of Ukraine had struck three Rosneft refineries in Samara Oblast. These are Novokuibyshevsky, Kuibyshevsky, and Syzran refineries.
Russian volunteers do not intend to stop – spymaster Budanov
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said that Russian volunteers conducting an operation in the Belgorod and Kursk oblasts of Russia have no intention of stopping and can achieve at least limited success.
"These guys have shown that there are many ways to get back what is due. Not only by talking about how they want to change something, but also by taking action," Budanov stated.

Ihnat is no longer a spokesman for the Air Force
Colonel Yuriy Ihnat will continue to serve in the Air Force, but will no longer head the public relations service, announced Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk. He thanked Ihnat for his work, but did not specify the reason for the transfer.
