The risks of infection spreads are growing in the occupied territories — Ukraine's Health Ministry

Experts of Ukraine's Health Ministry have not identified cases of cholera in the county. However, it is now difficult to get accurate data from the temporarily occupied territories, and the risks of infection spreads are growing, says Chief Ukraine's Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin.
"Since June 1, more than 440 patients with acute intestinal infections have been examined, including 165 for cholera infection. Also, 6 healthy people were examined for prophylactic purposes. Cholera vibrios were not found," says Kuzin.
The specialists also examined almost 100 samples of fresh water, 9 samples of seawater, and 80 samples of wastewater — no pathogens were found there either.
Kuzin added that it is now difficult to get information from the temporarily occupied territories, particularly from Mariupol, and the risks of spreading infections there are growing.
"This is linked to significant damage to the city's infrastructure, which leads to the mixing of sewage with drinking water and groundwater and pollution of wells," says the Health Ministry.
