The Sunday Show: Investigating High-Level Corruption in Eastern Europe

The Sunday Show: Investigating High-Level Corruption in Eastern Europe

Watch Hromadkse's special broadcast about investigating corruption from Mezhyhirya – the residence of Ukraine's fugitive president Yanukovych.

Political elites all over the world hold enormous power in their hands and often use this to help enrich themselves and their allies. Despite the fact that during the last few years countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia have introduced important anti-corruption reforms, corruption remains high in the region.

The post-truth world makes journalists' jobs even more challenging, because top-politicians have learned how to manipulate facts and bury the truth using new technologies. However, journalists also have the same tools and they use them to fight corruption.

The challenges of the post-truth world for journalism is the topic of this year’s MezhyhiryaFest, an international investigative journalism conference, which takes place at fugitive ex-President Viktor Yanukovych's opulent country estate. Hromadske went there to talk to prominent investigative journalists from all over the world.
