The Sunday Show: Poroshenko's Visit To US, De-occupation of Donbas, Kremlin's Support for Taliban

Watch tonight's Sunday Show.

This Week On The Sunday Show:

✅ What Poroshenko's 30 Minutes With Trump Mean For Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko attended a brief meeting with US President, Donald Trump on June 20. According to open sources, the visit lasted for 30 minutes. The brevity and other issues surrounding this meeting, such as why the White House didn't roll out the red carpet for the Ukrainian leader, provoked speculation. We speak to an expert for real-life analysis.

✅ New Plan For De-Occupation Of Donbas: What Is Known

Since the start of the war in the east of Ukraine, questions of de-occupation of Donbas and the legal status of the anti-terrorist operation have been raised many times. It's been more than a week since we learned about the introduction of the new concept proposed by the Security Council and supported by the president. Since no documents have been provided to the public - analysts and politicians have been talking about different scenarios, including the reformatting of the Minsk peace agreements and even the possibility of military developments.

Hromadske has obtained the concept for the draft of the bill and we're sharing its contents with you. What does it mean for Ukraine? Can it change the situation? Watch our show to find out.

✅ The Life of Youth Under Occupation in Eastern Ukraine

How is the life of youth in the occupied territories? The youngsters are still trying to live like they used to, separate from all political situations. We talked to an artist from Luhansk, Yevhen Koroletov. After the Russian aggression he moved from his native town, joined a volunteer battalion, but now has launched the ironically-titled magazine "Golden Coal" about alternative culture in the separatists-controlled Luhansk and Donetsk.

✅ Kremlin's Role In Support Of The Taliban

Is Moscow supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan in its fight against ISIS? How can we assess Russia’s lethal military intervention in Syria? To what extent is the Kremlin strengthening its leverage in the Middle East, and how does it all influence NATO policy in the region? We had a chance to talk to Amin Tarzi, the director of Middle East Studies at Marine Corps University, in the US, about the change in Russian policy in the region as it moves towards actively courting Middle Eastern countries and establishing its voice in the region.

✅ Humanitarian Aid As Goldmine For Scams

Hromadske's investigative unit took a closer look at how international humanitarian aid is used in Ukraine. It turned out that some volunteer organizations are not really helping soldiers or internally displaced persons, but rather themselves. Watch Hromadske's report.

✅ Preventing Sexual Violence In Wartime

Sexual violence plays a role in any conflict and the ongoing war in the east of Ukraine is no exception. Hromadske met with Madeleine Rees, Secretary General of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, who is a former gender expert for the UN Human Right Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to discuss the relationship between war and sexual violence, peacekeeping's connections to human trafficking, and the role of women in the peacekeeping processes.
