The Ukrainian forces destroyed the Wagner Group base in the town of Kadiivka in Luhansk Oblast, which has been under occupation since 2014, report Serhiy Haidai, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration and Strategic Communications Directorate of Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Haidai, the Wagner base was located at the local stadium in Kadiivka.

"This time, the Wagner Group base caught fire. The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a well-aimed attack on it. Only one occupier survived," said Serhiy Haidai.

The so-called rescue services of the self-proclaimed "LPR" said that 22 people died and 4 others were injured in the shelling in occupied Kadiivka.

Wagner Group in the war against Ukraine

Back in March, the UK Ministry of Defense reported on the involvement of militants of the Russian private military company Wagner in eastern Ukraine. According to the UK Defence Ministry, the Kremlin wanted to compensate for the failures suffered by Russian troops.

However, in late May, the Security Service of Ukraine published an intercepted conversation between the Russian service members about the destruction of a large unit of mercenaries from the Wagner Group by the Ukrainian forces in Donbas.

Situation in Luhansk Oblast

Serhiy Haidai said that as of the morning of June 10, the Russian forces shelled the entire territory of Luhansk Oblast, which Ukraine controls. Сombat continues in urban areas of Sievierodonetsk.

The Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway remains under Ukrainian control, but the Russian forces constantly shell it.

Evacuation from Sievierodonetsk is now impossible. But the Ukrainian authorities manage to "quietly" evacuate people from Lysychansk and Hirske communities and deliver humanitarian aid to those areas. According to Haidai, as soon as Russian troops learn about the evacuation, a humanitarian center, or a working hospital, these points will be immediately shelled.
