The UN Secretary-General arrived in Lviv. He is to meet with Zelensky and Erdogan

UN Secretary General António Guterres arrived in Lviv. On August 18, he is to hold a meeting there with the President of Ukraine Zelensky and the President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reports the office of the UN spokesperson.

The UN Secretary-General arrived in Ukraine at the invitation of President Zelensky.

First, Guterres will meet with the Presidents of Ukraine and Turkey, and the next day he is to go to Odesa to visit one of the three ports that have become operational for the export of Ukrainian grain after the "grain agreement."

The developments regarding the "grain agreement," the situation at the captured Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and a mission to the Olenivka prison, where dozens of Ukrainian prisoners of war died.

Before returning to New York, Guterres will arrive in Istanbul to visit the Joint Coordination Center established within the framework of the agreement on the grain export from Ukraine.

The UN Secretary-General already visited Ukraine after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. On April 28, Guterres arrived in Kyiv after visiting Moscow. The visit of the UN Secretary-General was followed by an attack when Russian forces targeted 5 missiles at Kyiv.

President Zelensky then emphasized that "this says a lot about Russia's true attitude towards global institutions." "About the efforts of the Russian leadership to humiliate the UN and everything that the organization represents. And therefore, this requires a correspondingly powerful reaction," Zelensky said.
