People tripped a mine on a beach in Zatoka, Odesa Oblast. As a result of the explosion, two people died and one was injured, reported the spokesman of the Odesa Oblast Military Administration, Serhiy Bratchuk.

"Odesa Oblast, Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky district, Zatoka. Beach!!! Early reports indicate detonation of a mine-explosive device triggered by people. We will provide more detailed information later," he wrote.

An investigative and operative group, explosives technicians and medics are currently working at the site.

Operational Command "South" said that, according to preliminary data, a group of men ignored the ban and, despite warning signs, were resting on one of the beaches. While swimming, they were blown up by an unknown explosive device.

On mined beaches

The police previously urged to observe the rules of martial law: not to go to the coastal protective strip of the Black Sea and not to swim in the mined sea.

At the beginning of July, it was reported that in Odesa Oblast, because of the war, the beaches would not be open during the summer season this year. One of the reasons is the crowding of people that the Russians can target.

However, more than one case of death on mined beaches is already known. For example, on July 15, on one of the beaches of Odesa, a man who ignored the ban and went to swim in the water exploded and died. On July 28, two people tripped a mine in the water in Kobleve, Mykolaiv Oblast.
