«Country can be completely changed within a few years» – Slovakia ex-PM

Mikulas Dzurinda, the main reformer of post-communist Slovakia and Prime Minister from 1998-2006, shared his country's experience of transition. During his tenure in power, Slovakia joined both NATO and the EU. In his opinion, Ukraine can be reformed and become a success story in just a couple of years. The most important preconditions for this, in his opinion, are a vision, concrete projects and a team of people who will implement these ideas. Mr Dzurinda explained how Slovakia has become an investors’ paradise and how to apply this experience in Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine should avoid Slovakia’s mistakes: it must carry on lustration and implement an efficient judicial reform. Mikulas Dzurinda also commented on the pro-Russian statements of the current Slovak government.
