Ukraine’s President Explains Sanctioning Foreign Journalists

Ukraine bans 41 foreign journalists from 16 countries as a part of newly introduced sanctions following the conflict with Russia. Although after international backlash, the Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko decided to take 6 journalists out of the sanctions list, saying that his ‘intention was always to fight for freedom of press.’

Previously, while meeting with the newly sent UK Ambassador, President Poroshenko also promised to cancel the ban for British journalists on the list, even though "they crossed Ukrainian border and entered uncontrolled by the Ukrainian government territories".
