Ukrainian Armed Forces advance on the eastern front, and Klitschko quarrels with district heads: highlights of May 5

Ukrainian troops have advanced to 1.6 km on the eastern front, Kyiv City Council member Trubitsyn, who was caught taking a bribe, is put on the international wanted list, and a political conflict is raging between Vitali Klitschko and the heads of the capital's districts. Here is the key news for May 5, 2023.
Advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
On June 5, soldiers of the Khortytsia strategic task force conducted offensive operations on the eastern front. They advanced in several areas, said Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar.
According to her, despite fierce resistance and attempts by Russians to hold their positions, Ukrainian troops advanced 200 to 1,600 meters in the direction of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Paraskoviivka, and 100 to 700 meters in the direction of Ivanivske and Klishchiivka.
It should be noted that these settlements are located near Bakhmut. Maliar noted that the Ukrainian military are moving on a fairly wide front in the Bakhmut direction. The Defense Forces are making progress there and occupying the dominant heights.
Trubitsyn is put on the international wanted list
Kyiv City Council deputy Vladyslav Trubitsyn, who is accused of taking a UAH 1.39 million bribe, is put on the international wanted list. It is known that he traveled abroad based on a letter signed by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov.

A network of agents in Russia
The United States believes that Ukraine has developed a network of agents and supporters inside Russia who are working to conduct sabotage against Russian targets. Kyiv has begun providing them with drones to organize attacks.
According to CNN, U.S. officials believe that these pro-Ukrainian agents inside Russia carried out a drone attack on the Kremlin in early May this year. The drones were launched from Russian territory, not sent from Ukraine.
Conflict between Klitschko and district heads
The heads of Kyiv's district state administrations have recorded an appeal to Vitali Klitschko calling on him to give up combining the positions of mayor and head of the Kyiv City State Administration. They claim that Klitschko is going against the decentralization policy.
In response, Klitschko said that the heads of the districts had used only a tenth of the funds allocated for the shelters and urged them not to do “outright political stupidity”.
